How to fill it in
- Hours per day = time out − time in − unpaid lunch. (The lunch break calculator does this instantly.)
- Regular vs overtime: total the week; up to 40 hours is regular, anything above is overtime at 1.5× pay for most hourly workers — see the overtime calculator for the dollar amounts.
- Keep the signed sheets. U.S. employers must keep time records — the FLSA requires payroll records for at least 3 years, and the safest practice is keeping the signed originals that long too.
Paper timesheets have two problems: people fill them in from memory on Friday, and someone has to re-type them for payroll. HoursBooks replaces the paper — workers punch on a tablet or their phone (with photo and GPS verification), the math does itself, and you print or export finished timesheets.
